Free Speech Analysis Turned Upside Down

Forcing Americans to Show Government Regulation of Speech Is Irrational

By Stu Nolan

George Will has rightly observed -- and consistently sounded the alarm regarding -- that trend by which politicians have been attempting to outlaw criticism against them. The problem continues to grow worse. He writes about the latest here. What Will does not state, but we cannot ignore, is that the undermining of the free speech provisions of the First Amendment follows the attacks on free exercise under the guise of an overreaching reading of the non-establishment provision to somehow create a strict "wall of separation" between church and state. And of course these follow the invention of "rights" from penumbras and emanations in the "living" ever-changing Constitution. This is just more evidence of that which is manifestly clear; if the Constitution can mean anything, ultimately it will mean nothing.
