Planned Parenthood Poisons Girl Scouts

Cathy Ruse on Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts

By Gerri Laird

"The best evidence that the Girl Scouts have not actually severed ties with Planned Parenthood is that Planned Parenthood has not tried to destroy them." Thus concluded a brilliant expose appearing in The Washington Times by Cathy Cleaver Ruse on the intrinsic link between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood.

Ruse debunks the age-old adage used by defenders of the Girl Scouts that this is "old news" by showing recent incidents linking Planned Parenthood's sex-education program, "Real Life. Real Talk," to their "valuable partner?the Girl Scouts of NYPENN"; a long-standing sex-education partnership between Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts of Waco, Texas; Girl Scout experts encourage girls to "visit Planned Parenthood programs and websites"; and their

annual million-dollar-plus contribution to the radical World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, an aggressively pro-abortion organization that openly partners with International Planned Parenthood Federation.

Ruse points out that "every little girl who signs up for the Girl Scouts is automatically made a member of this umbrella group."

Finally, Ruse points to a "girls only" meeting at the United Nations where a "sex book by Planned Parenthood" was featured, discussing "There is no right way and wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself."

While the Girl Scouts are publicly denying the link, Ruse points out that

Sharon Slater, mother of seven and President of Family Watch International, insists it is there. She tried to attend the [UN] meeting but was ushered out. Ms. Slater waited outside the door, slipped back in when it was over, and picked up one of the booklets from the stack on the table.

Ruse challenges the Girl Scouts follow the lead of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, when they dropped Planned Parenthood. Komen received over 20,000 supportive emails from the pro-life community and a "surge in donations."

The Girl Scout tout their $720 million cookie sales program as the "largest girl-led business in the country." Perhaps they will have to tap Planned Parenthood for some of the funds they are unable to raise as Americans become more aware of this Girl Scout-Planned Parenthood partnership.
