Reading the Catechism for the Year of Faith

By Matthew Milhon

With his Apostolic Letter Porta Fidei (The Door of Faith), issued Oct. 11, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI declared that a Year of Faith would begin on Oct. 11, 2012. The Holy Father called this Year of Faith so that the Church as a whole could experience a sort of reconversion through a deeper knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ. One particular way the Holy Father has asked us to observe this Year of Faith is through study of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. A daunting task for some, reading the Catechism has never been easier due to an online initiative that makes it possible to read small portions every day that would culminate in reading the entire Catechism in the course of one year.

By subscribing to the link at the end of this article you will be e-mailed a small portion of the Catechism everyday. You can also comment on particular portions and discuss your reading with others in the group. Happy Year of Faith!
